Correspondence, 1857 Apr.-Aug.

Two letters addressed to, and one written by, Robison at Fort Bridger in 1857. The earliest, written by Louis Vasquez on April 30, informs Robison that Vasquez and Jim Bridger will send someone to collect balance due on purchase of the fort. On verso is Robison's May 27 letter to Daniel H. Wells, forwarding the Vasquez letter. Robison also informs Wells that he has started building a wall around the fort and visited Green River to get boats in order. The latest letter is from Brigham Young to Robison, dated August 4. Young discusses report of a military expedition marching towards Utah. The letter also mentions other "express" stations besides Fort Bridger, gives instructions relative to livestock at the fort and the purchase of guns and ammunition, and informs Robison of arrangements made to pay Jim Bridger. The Brigham Young letter is faded and difficult to read. A photocopy and transcription of the letters is in a second folder.
